There are millions of diet programs out on the market day and each one of those diet programs needs to be reviewed, tested, tried, and proven in order for a customer to give their hard earned money over to the company. The latest review we are looking into is called the Lighter Life Diet. The company is located in both the UK and Ireland, so if you are in the United States, you will have a long flight in order to attend the counseling groups. They believe in following a (VLCD) which stands for a very low calorie diet of 600 calories per day. When trying to get into contact with the company, there is no customer service number but there is a chat service. When asking questions via chat, I was given a busy message telling me that everyone wants to chat today, and it will be a wait. I have a feeling this is a normal message that pops up, just to make it look like they offer support to their customer base.
Yikes! Alongside of this very low calorie diet, you will be enrolled in counseling sessions to change the way you think about food, and your weight. You will be required to purchase their food replacement “food packs” as they like to call them, no matter what plan you are on. There are three phases in the program, which are the foundation, development, and management phases. In the first two phases you will be required to only eat the food packs (100 days) and then for longer if the weight hasn’t come off. The final phase is when you start to incorporate conventional food back into your diet. This is very unrealistic.
Totally Different: The cost will be around 100+ British Pounds per week, and it will be a 12 week plan meant for three stones of weight loss. You will be replacing all of your meals with their foodpacks (4 per day, 28 per week) and will attend counseling sessions with 11 other people. They do not mix the men and women. These counseling sessions are billed every 4 weeks at 60 British Pounds, and they will continue to bill you until you cancel.*
Total: As stated above the cost will be around 100+ British Pounds per week, and it will be at your discretion meant for one stone of weight loss.
Lite: This group is meant for people who are one stone or a little over and want to lose weight more slowly. It is the same exact cost as the other packages, but you do not get as much because you do not require to eat all of the foodpacks like in the other plans.*
Fast: Costs are all the same. It’s a 5:2 ration intermittent fast plan. I am starting to feel redundant. You will get 32 foodpacks for 4 weeks worth of dieting. With 600 calories, and counseling sessions, their packages really do not offer anything different.*
Man Plan: There is nothing really different from the packages offered and this plan. As stated on their website, “Depending on the plan you choose, you will replace conventional food with a selection of delicious, nutritionally complete foodpacks; flavors include curry, spaghetti bolognaise, shepherd’s pie, chocolate shake, nut fudge bars and vegetable soup.”

Do Dieters Lose Weight On The Lighter Life Diet?
This diet starves its customers really, when you look at the total amount of calories you are allowed to have. You are not allowed to eat conventional foods, which is also very tricky when trying to get your body used to a diet program. There are not many programs that allow you to consume only 600 calories, so this is rare and somewhat unhealthy for the dieter looking to lose substantial weight and keep it off for the long term. There were no outside customer testimonials when looking into the Lighter Life Diet, and the groups are mainly overseas who are participating in the program which makes it more difficult to gage results and hear about the side effects that could occur when consuming the food packs.
Is The Lighter Life Diet Easy To Follow?
For the customer who enjoys cooking their food, this diet is going to be extremely hard to follow because you are confined to only eating their food packs which may not taste great compared to home cooked meals. There is no scientific research done as to why their food packs are better than the others and if they really cause you to lose weight. In my mind, the 600 calories no matter what you are eating is going to cause some weight loss, as this is borderline starvation.
This sounds downright awful. It is terrible that you are only allowed 600 calories per day, and those calories are going to come out of a food pack. For someone who likes to cook their own food, this would be torture. There is no telling how tasty the foodpacks are, but I can almost venture to say they are going to be gross. This program is only available in Ireland and the UK, so it does not hit as many markets as it could. It’s expensive, and it’s very low calorie, which sets a majority of the users up for failure. They do have a social media presence, which is refreshing to see, but the users are not impressive to say the least. All in all, this program may seem user friendly, but it is so much more complicated than what really meets the eye.
