Renowned author Jorge Cruise’s latest offering is the book, The 100: Count Only Sugar Calories and Lose Up to 18 Pounds in 2 Weeks. From this the 100 Sugar Calories Diet was born, and it is a very simplistic diet that has dieters only count calories that come from sugar. Cruise says that obesity can be linked to dieters counting the wrong kind of calories, and by only consuming 100 calories of sugar per day, a dieter will easily lose excess weight.*

The sugar talked about in the 100 Sugar Calories Diet comes from more than the white stuff that we put in coffee. Cruise explains that dieters must cut way down on fruits, starchy vegetables, breads, and pastas. The 100 Sugar Calories Diet has a four-week plan of meals that are higher in proteins and very low in sugars and carbohydrates, and when followed properly, it promises an unrealistic amount of weight loss in as little as two weeks.

Do Dieters Lose Weight On The 100 Sugar Calories Diet?

Dieters on the 100 Sugar Calories Diet will more than likely lose weight in the short term. While double digit pounds in two weeks might be a bit much, at least some weight loss can be expected simply due to the fact that less sugar consumed will mean less calories consumed.

Long-term weight loss is a bit more in question though. The body would eventually get used to the adjusted number of calories being taken in and without exercise, which is not said to be necessary with the 100 Sugar Calories Diet, then long-term weight loss would be harder to achieve.

Is The 100 Sugar Calories Diet Easy To Follow?

The 100 Sugar Calories Diet is not going to be an easy diet to follow if a dieter is used to eating a lot of foods that contain sugars and carbohydrates. While many protein rich foods are allowed, favorites like bread and pasta are not. This can lead to the tendency to cheat on the diet, which would be disastrous in regards to weight loss success.

Conclusion

The 100 Sugar Calories Diet sounds like it is nice and simple, as well as innovative. Unfortunately, this is just a new spin on an old idea. In reality, the 100 Sugar Calories Diet is nothing more than another low-carbohydrate diet, only instead of saying “carbs,” the term used is “sugars.” While high-protein diets tend to work in moderation, there has been some concern with the safety of these types of diets. Not to mention, they are not as easy to undertake as you might think.
