5 Foods Not to Eat If You Want To Lose Weight

While some foods are certainly better than others when it comes to diet and health, there are some that should just be avoided at all costs.

If you are trying to lose weight and be healthy, then you will be just fine if you never eat the following foods and food products again:

High Fructose Corn Syrup

While the debate in the scientific community rages on as to whether or not high fructose corn syrup is good or bad for you, there are a number of components that suggest you should just leave it alone for good. To start with, high fructose corn syrup is a common sweetener that is found in any number of refined and processed foods. While these foods are bad enough on their own, consuming them typically leads to you ingesting more sugary foods, simply because you will crave them.

The problem with eating an abundance of sugary foods is two-fold. Obviously an abundance of sweet snacks will not do anything flattering to your waistline, but the real issue lies in your health. A significant increase in sugary foods can also lead to a very big increase in your body developing many health problems, such as diabetes.

Try and stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup and opt for all natural instead. Ditch soda for water flavored with fruit and sub out sugary snacks with fresh and juicy fruits.

White Bread

Chances are that your kitchen pantry contains a loaf of white bread. However, that bread contains no nutritional value and is loaded with sugar, making it a food that you should avoid, not stock up on.

Recent studies have shown that over time, those who eat white bread on a regular basis are more likely to gain weight and even be considered overweight. This is due in large part to not only the white bread’s ingredients, but also the fact that it does not do an adequate job of filling you up. This means you will be hungry soon after ingesting the white bread, which can lead to overeating.

Substitute white bread with whole grain tortillas or extra lettuce. It will take some getting used to, but you can easily live without white bread in your diet.

White Rice

Rice can be a great side dish for a number of meats and poultry, and can be used in a number of recipes as well. However, if the rice you are using is white rice, then you can be doing yourself, and your body, more harm than good.

Much like white bread, white rice contains little to no nutritional values and will actually help your body store fat. This is obviously counterproductive to weight loss and it doesn’t even fill you up.

If rice is a staple in your diet, switch to brown rice. Brown rice is loaded with nutrients and also contains a vast amount of fiber, which will help fill you up and help you keep that full feeling longer.

Cream Based Salad Dressings

A nice salad loaded with healthy greens is a great way to kick start any diet and health regimen. However, once you pour on any number of cream based salad dressings, the benefit of salad goes right out the window.

While these creamy dressings will certainly add to the flavor of the salad, the high calorie count and high fat content hardly make it worth it. In fact, there are so many calories in the typical cream based dressing that the amount of calories from those dressings can often be more than that of the rest of the salad.

Instead, try a much healthier alternative to top your salad. Use lemon juice with a bit of cracked pepper and a touch of salt for a tasty dressing with very little in the way of calories and no fat. Add to it with a touch of olive oil, which will add a little in the way of fat and calories, but nothing like those cream based dressings that should simply be left alone.

Fried Foods

This seems like common knowledge, but fried foods goes beyond deep fried foods. If you truly want to lose weight and live a healthier life, then you should never eat any kind of fried foods, including pan fried.

Fried foods are linked to high blood pressure and high cholesterol, both of which means trouble for your cardiovascular health. Add to that the increased risk of stroke, heart disease, acid reflex, and frequent gas pains and it is easy to see that fried foods are not the way to go.

In place of frying your foods try baking and broiling them instead. Not only will they still taste great, but you will be able to avoid all the troubles and side effects that unfortunately come right along with eating fried foods.
