Thurmond has parlayed the success of the show and come out with an extensive diet program that he can now be seen selling on late night infomercials.

The foundation of the plan if to first identify what type of body you have by filling out a questionnaire. This serves two purposes. The first is to identify which foods can be eaten to help burn fat while avoiding foods that make your body gain fat. Additionally the “reprogramming” of your body supposedly allows you to exercise a lot less and still achieve results.  According to Thurmond, following his plan will allow you to eat more as long as what is being eaten are the right foods for your body and you will lose up to 30 pounds in just six weeks.

Do Dieters Lose Weight on the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet?

Like many other diet programs out there the more you have to lose, the better you should do. However, the claim of 30 pounds of weight loss is suspect at best and most that try this diet report weight loss in the short-term, but not so much in the long-term. This is likely due to the fact that so many foods become off limits, thus making the diet an easy one to “slip-up” on.

Is the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet Easy to Follow?

At first the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet Program is pure joy. The fact that you can eat almost as much as you like as long as the right foods are being ingested is a great feeling. However, that feeling soon fades as you being to crave certain foods that you might have once enjoyed daily and have since had to completely eliminate. Any diet that is too restrictive in nature is harder to follow and diet program is in fact restrictive sometimes requiring you to cut certain foods and/or food groups out completely.


The 6 Week Body Makeover Diet Program might work if followed to the letter, but following such restrictions can be hard to say the least. In addition, the program itself comes with a cost of over $170 and that doesn’t begin to include the food you have to buy.

So, even after the program comes to your doorstep the expenses don’t stop. Depending on what your “body type” ends up being you may be stuck buying the most expensive foods at the supermarket. While the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet Program might put a slight dent in your weight loss, it will no doubt put a big dent in your wallet.

    The problem with this plan is people think it is a “DIET” plan. It is not a “Diet” plan. It is a course in you learning which foods make you fat and which foods don’t make you fat. In this course, you will eat, as I say, like a pig and when to eat it. You will eat 6 times a day and if you feel hungry when it’s time for your next meal of snack, eat more. Pile it on. Shovel it in.

    Most people don’t know what foods make them fat. They just eat less of anything and still gain weight. Ignorance is a terrible thing and this course educates you to the facts of eating for your “body type.”

    I was on the Michael Thurmond – Six Week Body Makeover 5 years ago. I liked it and lost a lot of weight. It does take preparation but there’s plenty to eat. If you’re working, you’ll need to bring your mid morning meal, your lunch and your mid-afternoon meal with you so get a good sized insulated lunch cooler. I especially liked the fact that you get plenty of complex carbs. Typical breakfast (I was using Diet 3C) was a bowl of oatmeal (1 microwave envelope), a cup of applesauce and 4oz of sliced turkey or broiled chicken and black coffee (and a tall glass of water). If you eat at 7:00am, you’ll be eating again at 10:00…one-half baked potato & 3 oz of chicken or turkey and a half cup of green beans and more water. Bottom line, if you stay on it (and I went off it frequently on weekends) the weight melts off. Warning…once you end this diet, have a plan to keep exercising and watching what you eat. If you don’t you’ll put back every pound and probably add another 20% in a hurry… so be careful! Good Luck.

      I did this plan also several years ago. It was absolutely amazing! I was far too broke to do any other diet plan and it is totally guaranteed to work or your money is fully refunded! So what did I have to lose except the weight? And I did! I lost 70 pounds! and this review is correct that if you do go off the plan, you will regain the weight. Because you will have gone back to the old way of eating, and that is not good. You will spend some on buying the expensive produce at the store, but that is because fresh food is more expensive than processed food which is terrible for you and sits on a shelf for a million years! Who wants to eat that? Yes, you have to exercise. But all you have to do is walk! WE all do that everyday! You can do the exercises on the door at home, with the pulley apparatus they send in the kit, but I preferred to go to the gym and use the equipment there. So that is a personal choice of mine. Which has nothing to do with the program. This is full of nutrition because you learn to eat lean meats, lots of fresh produce, veggies and fruit, no processed foods, no junk, no fast food, and you are only cutting out what you shouldn’t eat anyway! And you eat to keep your body fueled up all day like a furnace to keep your metabolism up so you burn more calories. Yes, you will have to buy a cooler and prepare your food for yourself. But think of it as your treat box, full of all the good food your body craves and enjoys, and once you go on this plan for a while, the cravings stop. I did it wayyy past the 6 week mark, and it became a lifestyle plan for me. It’s a great plan. I was very skeptical at first, tried many including some listed in the top 5 and they all didn’t work. This one worked! And works still! I feel more educated and my body feels loved!
