Bernstein Diet Review

Bernstein Diet Review
Reading Time: 2 minutesDeveloped by Dr. Stanley Bernstein back in 1974, the Bernstein Diet is one that is done under the direct medical supervision of various staff members at one of the many Bernstein Clinics. Clinics can be found in certain parts of the United States and Canada and while on the Bernstein Diet participants are expected to visit the clinic three times per week for consultations and weekly injections of Vitamin B.

Depending on the individual the daily caloric intake allowed while on the Bernstein Diet program is 800-1,350. The Bernstein Diet consists of several phases and the participant’s progress somewhat determines which phase they will do and when. The phases of the Bernstein Diet are the Weight Loss Phase, the Maintenance Phase, and the Tune-Up Phase. If followed properly the supposed results of the Bernstein Diet are between 4-5 pounds of weight loss each week.

Do Dieters Lose Weight on the Bernstein Diet?

The Bernstein Diet program is one that would likely promote weight loss in the short-term. However, once a dieter decides to go off the diet they would be left to continue on with what they have learned and not go back to their old eating habits. As this is not always easy for some to do the likelihood that the Bernstein Diet is good for long-term weight loss success is not good.

Is the Bernstein Diet Easy to Follow?

The same reason that makes the Bernstein Diet easy to do is exactly what makes it hard to do. With three weekly sessions to guide you while on the Bernstein Diet the chances of you making mistakes while on the diet will be greatly limited.

However, this still requires you to drive to the clinic three times per week. This can be somewhat of a challenge to those who do not have a lot of time on their hands, but it is a necessary step if you wish to do the Bernstein Diet in the proper manner.

Conclusion

The Bernstein Diet is not unlike many other medically supervised diet programs in that it will cost you an arm and a leg to do. Just the initial consultation will see you shell out $235 and you can also expect to pay $100 for things like injection sessions. All totaled, it is not uncommon for those who undertake the Bernstein Diet program to spend $1,000 per month or more.

In the end, the Bernstein Diet is simply a very low calorie diet that restricts a lot of what you can eat. Besides getting a Vitamin B shot, you really don’t get anything too special with the Bernstein Diet. While it may produce weight loss results for some, there are other diet programs that also restrict calories and cost far less than the Bernstein Diet does.

  1. If Dr. Berstein is charging $235 per visit, it is well worth his diet works and he is an expert! I started a week and a half ago, with sugars well above 200 all day. Now I am down to 129 to 165. His diet works and I would rather go to someone that know what being a Diabetic is verses a cheap diet that won’t control my sugars.
