Cleanse to the Rescue Review
The HUM Nutrition Cleanse to the Rescue product promises both clearer skin, as well as a flatter stomach. It is a 21-day cleanse that comes in the form of capsules, and the instructions are to take one pack per day. On the site they say, “Take one pack a day: 1 smaller capsule before your 2 main meals + 2 regular capsules without food.” [1] There are two different supplements in the detox cleanse: The Daily Cleanse and the Flatter Me enzyme capsules. The cleanse costs $42.00 and it will last for 21 days. The company markets that getting healthy from the inside out is the best way to start when trying to revitalize your health and wellness overall. HUM Nutrition prides itself on clean supplements that are free of chemicals and additives, which is why they claim the product is all-natural.

Cleanse to the Rescue Claims

They don’t make a lot of claims on the site, but the HUM website has a very natural and simple feel to it, which also goes along with their company motto: “Beauty Starts From Within.” They also claim, “This 21-day detox is full of herbal treats and enzyme blends clinically shown to cleanse your system.” [1] Other claims made directly about the cleanse product you will be taking are:

“21 little daily packets combine Daily Cleanse and Flatter Me for a total health renewal. Daily Cleanse combines the Who’s Who of the botanical world to for clear skin. Organic chlorella algae, bladderwrack kelp, beetroot, and milk thistle work together to detox and protect your largest organ (the skin) as well as liver, bowels, kidneys, lungs, and lymphatic system. Flatter Me is our comprehensive enzyme blend that supports all major phases of nutrient digestion. Optimized to breakdown protein, carb, fiber, and fats, Flatter Me helps relieve indigestion and pave the way to a slimmer, happier body.”

When looking into their FAQ’s and refund information, it was under par being only 30 days. For one thing, you can’t even try the product out to get a full refund. If you open the bottle, you forfeit any refund for store credit. They quote, “Returns are easy and are fully refunded for unopened product. Opened product will receive a store credit. Please note that we won’t be able to refund shipping and handling unless we have sent you the wrong product.”

HUM Nutrition also claims that pregnant or nursing women should not take this supplement, nor should children. If you are taking certain medication, always clear it with your doctor first just in case there are interactions and side effects. Their products are made without GMOs, gluten, or sugar. They claim that they are potent free, sustainably sourced, and clinically proven to work. Nutritionists are also available on the website for free as long as you take the quiz and hand over your e-mail address for further contact later on.

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind Cleanse to the Rescue

According to the study on the main website, HUM breaks it down this way, “Digestive Enzyme Blend: The University of Michigan Health Center cites studies that link digestive enzymes with multiple health benefits. In a double-blind trial, a form of pancreatic enzymes was shown to significantly reduce gas, bloating, and fullness after a high-fat meal. A later preliminary study of people with indigestion reported significant improvement in almost all of those given pancreatic enzyme supplements. In a separate preliminary trial, supplemental hydrochloric acid and vitamin B complex improved some cases of acne rosacea in people with low stomach-acid production. Source: “Digestive Enzymes”. University of Michigan Health System.” [1]

HUM Nutrition does not make any direct claims regarding any specific ingredients in their daily cleanse. There are, however, a few notable ingredients to take a look into, like organic chlorella algae and milk thistle, regarding the protection of your body overall and their effectiveness. So what are some benefits to taking in chlorella?

According to Algae World News,

“Chlorella insulates these metals and other toxins and prevents them from being absorbed into the soft tissues and organs of your body. Also, after every cancer treatment through radiation therapy and chemotherapy, the chlorophyll in chlorella keeps the body safe from radiation.” [2]

Not only does it help detoxify the body, it can also strengthen your immune system, help you lose weight, and regulate your blood sugar levels.

What about the weight loss and flattened stomach promised by HUM Nutrition when going through this cleanse rescue? While there is a not a great deal of evidence that this product will help you shed a ton of weight, chlorella is linked to helping with some weight loss too. According to a study done by Japanese researchers, they found that this ingredient helped the participants reduce their overall body fat percentages. The study was done over a 4-week time period, and these are the results: “We confirmed that in both groups, Chlorella intake resulted in noticeable reductions in body fat percentage, serum total cholesterol, and fasting blood glucose levels. Through gene expression analysis, we found that gene expression profiles varied with Chlorella intake and identified many genes that exhibited behavior such that after the completion of the intake period, expression levels returned to pre-intake expression ones.” [3]

Regarding the supplement milk thistle, it is part of the daisy family and is best known to combat liver disease. It can also be used as a detox for the liver after too much alcohol. It is one of the ingredients found in the daily cleanse supplement. When looking into its effectiveness in a study done by NCBI, they found:

“Clinical efficacy of milk thistle is not clearly established. Interpretation of the evidence is hampered by poor study methods and/or poor quality of reporting in publications. Problems in study design include heterogeneity in etiology and extent of liver disease, small sample sizes, and variation in formulation, dosing, and duration of milk thistle therapy. Possible benefit has been shown most frequently, but not consistently, for improvement in aminotransferases and liver function tests are overwhelmingly the most common outcome measure studied.” [4]

The studies are rather so-so regarding the effectiveness of the cleanse overall. Yes, the above ingredients are both good and they are not harmful by any means when taken properly, but they are not miracle ingredients either. Will they help detox your body? Yes, they will help with detoxing your body. Some side effects might be nausea, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues. Other ingredients present in the Flatter Me supplement like protease has been studied and proven to be a healing enzyme.

So what exactly is protease?

According to Global Healing Center,

“Protease (also known as a proteolytic enzyme, peptidase, or proteinase) is a type of enzyme that functions mainly to help us digest different kinds of proteins. They break down the bonds by a process known as hydrolysis and convert proteins into smaller chains called peptides or even smaller units called amino acids.” [5]

They are important for aiding in the proper digestion of foods and harmful organisms in the body. They also help to break down toxins and undigested proteins in the body and help the immune system to stay steady and not go into toxin overload. The Flatter Me supplement has a good amount of protease in the ingredient list, so this will indeed help the body.

Word On The Street About Cleanse to the Rescue

When looking into reviews on this particular product by HUM, it was clear there were very split views on the effectiveness of the cleanse. The nutrients look like they are there, but how did the HUM cleanse make people feel? While some say it helped them, others said it only made them feel sick. When looking at the 5 star reviews, it was clear that HUM Nutrition gave them incentive, as they were all referring people to the main website for purchase with coupon codes. Be mindful of reviews like this, so you can get a real take on how well the product is going to work for you.

Pacific Girl(7.26.17, 2 star) said,

“The Daily Cleanse detox has helped a TON with my hormonal acne so I decided to give these a try. The Flatter Me enzymes have given me stomach discomfort and seem to have actually made me GAIN weight. Very disappointed. Would definitely recommend the Daily Cleanse but I would steer clear of the Flatter Me.” [6]

Profofpen (10.20.16, 1 star) said,

“I’m about ten pounds overweight. I workout and lift weights. This hurt my stomach and I gained ten pounds. I ended up in the ER with severe stomach pain. Awful. These reviews all tell you to go to their webpage. They aren’t real.” [7]

The Bottom Line: Is Cleanse to the Rescue Worth A Try?

Depends. This product can’t be used just as a weight loss product. When it is all said and done, this might be an average cleanse, but nothing more. Sure, there are some good ingredients and nothing too terrible, but it is rather confusing with the mixed reviews. If you are in need of a cleanse, this one won’t break the bank, but do be mindful of the reviews which stated it hurt their stomach if you are particularly sensitive.
