What used to only be available at his practice in Miami is now available to anyone online in the form of Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet. This changed back in 2006 when he made the cookies and the diet available to customers online and at retail pharmacy locations like Walgreens, and GNC. You don’t get to eat just any cookie, but one that is formulated for weight loss. These cookies will take the place of breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day.
The Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet is not really a full blown diet. While the diet does call for a participant to eat six cookies throughout the day, they are to be eaten in conjunction with “any” other diet. So, for the most part, the cookies are designed to be more like snacks that make a diet easier to stick with. Each cookie has about 90 calories and the secret to their success is the amino acids blended in, according to Dr. Siegel.*
Do Dieters Lose Weight On The Cookie Diet?
Eating the cookies alone would not be considered a safe diet as the calories would be too little as would the nutrition. So, weight loss will solely depend on what type of diet the cookies are added to. This can get tricky as a diet that does not allow for many calories to be added can be thrown off by Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet. There are guidelines to follow, but again, these cookies will not work for weight loss with every diet plan available.
The cookies themselves are high in protein and fiber which is meant to keep you more full for longer periods of time. This is helpful, because your first real meal will be at dinner time. Many people have mentioned that they are very hungry while going through the diet, and those hunger pangs are hard to overcome. It has been said by Dr. Siegal himself that if you stick to the diet you can lose up to 10 pounds per month.* Whether you believe this claim or not is up to you.
Is The Cookie Diet Easy To Follow?
Eating cookies sounds like it would be an easy thing to do. However, even Dr. Siegel admits his cookies are not the tastiest around. There are five flavors to choose from so there is a level of variety. But committing to eating six cookies a day can be tough, not to mention expensive. This often leads to skipping cookies each day. Which might end in them getting replaced with cookies (or other junk food) that aren’t a good compliment for a diet plan.
When you do not like the taste of the food you are eating, your natural response will be to stop eating it. This could be the case with Dr. Siegel’s cookies you are supposed to consume for a good portion of your day. If this occurs, you will have a hard time sticking to the diet.
The popularity of cookie diets in this quick fix society is not surprising at all. Who wouldn’t want to eat a food that finally has been legalized in the world of dieting? Eating cookies and losing weight sounds like it would be a no brainer. However, one thing that is rarely mentioned with Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet is that it is a diet that is supposed to be used in conjunction with another diet approved by a physician and then monitored thereafter. This makes the overall diet plan one that is likely to get costly as any physician monitored diet plan is one that will come with plenty of costs attached.
Add to that the expense of the cookies themselves. To follow Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet the right way you will have to spend $56 plus shipping for a week’s supply. That means spending well over $200 each month on cookies that don’t even taste that good. Add that to the cost of other foods and the diet plan itself and Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet definitely loses some of its appeal.
