Diet Chef Review at ConsumersCompareDiet Chef was founded by Kevin Dorren in 2008, and the company’s headquarters are based out of Edinburgh, Scotland. Diet Chef was founded on the notion that everyone wants to be treated like a celebrity and have meals made for them, taking the thinking out of dieting.* The idea that dieting doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming fits this business model well, because the meals are being prepared for the customer with no extra work needed. To date, Diet Chef is the leading diet program in the United Kingdom, and has seen success with its customers based on the convenience and ease the diet program provides. Even though the company does a large majority of business in the UK, it also has a facility in Virginia, which services the United States.

Details of the Diet Chef Program

The different plans to choose from:

  • 4 week– $67.25 each week, $269 per month, 1,200 calories per day, and you are enrolled in an auto ship program for your meals. Beware: You will automatically get sent and charged another 4 weeks of meals if you don’t cancel before your first initial four weeks are up.*
  • 8 week- $59.75 each week, $239 per month, 1200 calories per day, and you are enrolled in an auto ship program for your meals. Beware: You will automatically get sent and charged another 8 weeks of meals if you don’t cancel before your first initial 8 weeks are up.*
  • 12 week: $49.75 each week, $199 per month, 1200 calories per day, and you are enrolled in an auto ship program for your meals. Beware: You will automatically get sent and charged another 12 weeks of meals if you don’t cancel before your first initial 12 weeks are up.*

Return Policy

If you are unhappy with the food quality, you can send it back to the headquarters in Virginia and wait for a refund. This process can be long and frustrating, because once an item goes back, you will need to stop the rest of the shipments to ensure you are not getting overcharged for food you do not want.* They provide you will an e-mail address on the site to contact if you are in need of a refund. This already seems like a headache and an expensive way to start dieting.

Do Dieters Lose Weight With Diet Chef?

There is scientific evidence provided on the website that shows if you eat smaller, portion-controlled meals, you will see the weight come off. After reading the customer testimonials both on the website and from outside sources, there was a general consensus that the food was rather boring and the portions were tiny. There were multiple reviews about how the meat was dry, and a sauce (such as curry) was slapped over the top to make it look very unappetizing day in and day out. However, because of the portion-controlled sizes and the caloric constraint to 1,200 daily, customers have seen weight come off.* When looking at the reviews as a whole, the program has given people success if followed all of the way through. Some people were not able to get past the taste of the meats, and were overly exhausted with their options after a few weeks. There was also a note about the customer service being extremely poor, and hard to get through to, which does not have me feeling optimistic about placing an order with Diet Chef.

Is Diet Chef Easy To Follow?

Some people would argue that having meals cooked for them is the easiest program in the world to follow, while others argue the thought of pre-made meals makes them want to gag.* The work doesn’t come in preparing your food, but in dealing with the customer service stopping your auto-orders, sending food back, and demanding refunds. Overall, this program seems very involved, and more work than what actually meets the eye. If you are a vegetarian, there are no options for you regarding Diet Chef to date, as many of the meals contain small portions of meat.* You can choose between 4-12 weeks of pre-made meals, and it can go on until you are completely sick of the food altogether. There have been no known side effects coming from this program.

When you really take a deeper look and analyze the program as a whole, you will see that it is very expensive for one person. For how small the portions are, you would think that you would save money eating, when in reality it is quite the opposite. Then, there is the headache of Diet Chef’s customer service and refund policies, which have me holding my wallet even tighter. I would not recommend this program for someone who is looking to spend less and change their dietary habits for a positive lifestyle change long term, because they are not educating you on how to become healthier once you are off of the program.
