Evlution Nutrition Claims
Right on the container, they claim Engn pre workout will give you explosive energy, maximum focus, and be an intense fat burner. With an increase of power, energy, and focus, the hope is to keep you in the gym training longer. They claim use is best, “As a dietary supplement, take 1 scoop with 8 oz (236 mL) of cold water 15-30 minutes before training. To avoid sleeplessness, do not take within 4 hours of sleep.” [1] They also claim, “TOP NITRIC OXIDE PRE WORKOUT. Agmatine sulfate and Betaine Anhydrous dramatically increase nitric oxide production pre workout pump. Supports Cognitive Function, Enhances Mood, Expands Muscle Endurance, and Helps to Delay Fatigue pre workout. POWERFUL PRE WORKOUT supplement ENERGY POWDER. Smooth energy rush and more focus with no crash or jitters. Trusted by men and women!” [2] Other than the small claims made on the website, they do not say much past that regarding how the supplement actually works. They keep it very simple. The company, however, does not offer a money back guarantee on any of their products and claims, “All sales are final. We accept returns for refund or exchange for items damaged in transit.” This rings true no matter what site you purchase it from.

When looking into an important ingredient noted above called betaine anhydrous, the company claims it will dramatically increase your nitric oxide levels, which will give you that pre-workout pump. So what is all the talk about betaine anhydrous anyway? Do the facts live up to the hype that Evultion toutes? Trimethylglycine, otherwise known as TMG, is also another name for betaine anhydrous, and it is an amino acid that is found in beets. According to Ans Performance,

“TMG can also be made in the body naturally via oxidation of choline-containing compounds. One of its primary functions in the body is to act as an ‘osmolyte’ and increase water retention of cells. It migrates in and out of cells to preserve cellular hydration state.” [3]
Beets are known to open up your blood vessels naturally and let more oxygen in, which is why many endurance athletes drink beet juice or supplement beet powder before competition. The claim about TMG is true, but what about agmatine sulfate? It is best known as a neurotransmitter, and it has the power to even be used to treat pain and drug addiction in some forms. [4] Just taking it alone will not suffice for pain killers, but it can work when paired with morphine if that is what your doctor recommends. It also has the power to protect your body from strokes as it controls the amount of toxic nitric oxide levels your body puts out. In a study done on this, they proved this was effective with improving nitric oxide levels. The results, “We discovered that agmatine causes a 3-fold increase in the NADPH oxidase activity of nNOS leading to the production of H2O2 and is a likely cause for the inactivation of the enzyme.” [5] According to body nutrition, there are no known side effects or studies done on potential side effects that could irritate someone taking agmatine. [6] The natural caffeine found in the ingredient list contributes to the company’s claim about it enhancing overall focus and giving the user more energy. It contains both coffee bean extract, as well as green tea extract, which are both potent forms of caffeine to enhance energy and focus overall. There are multiple studies done regarding these ingredients and how they can be effective. With green tea extract, there was a study done on its overall benefits and they found, “A double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over design study showed that consumption of a beverage containing green tea catechins, caffeine, and calcium increases 24-h energy expenditure by 4.6%, but the contribution of the individual ingredients could not be distinguished. It was suggested that such modifications were sufficient to prevent weight gain.” [7] All of these ingredients have lived up to the claims made by the company. There are little side effects associated with the consumption of the supplement. But what about the effectiveness of the supplement from the users who have given it a shot? What was their overall take on how well the supplement worked for them regarding energy, focus, and stamina?

There were an abundance of people who reviewed the effectiveness of this pre-workout supplement, and the majority of reviews were positive ones. No harmful side effects were noted, nor were there any packaging problems like expired product or damaged packaging, which was nice to read. The Bottom Line: Is Evultion Nutrition Engn Worth Trying?
Yes. After looking into the ingredients and seeing the positive customer feedback overall from the product, this seems like a reputable brand and product to try if you are looking for a boost in your workouts. Is it perfect? No. They do not have a money back guarantee on their products, which is a downer for those who didn’t enjoy it. Some of the flavors were reported to taste poorly, and for some people there was just too much caffeine. It is always best to be careful when you are trying a heavily caffeinated product out to understand the effects it can have if you are at all sensitive. On the instructions, the company says not to take this supplement before bed or it will indeed keep you awake. All in all, the science matched up with the claims made on the main company website, which was nice to see for the supplement saturated world.
