Is Garcinia Lean Xtreme truly effective for weight loss?
According to the research, studies done on lab rats showed their appetites decreased when they were given HCA, but when it was done on humans it was a completely different result.
Human studies had more conflicting results. One weight loss trial showed no difference between people who took Garcinia Cambogia and those who took a placebo pill. Other trials linked HCA to weight loss and healthy blood lipid levels (lipids are fats). [1]

Looking into Garcinia Lean Xtreme, the same questions come to mind. When browsing on the website, there is little to no information on how the company did their research, which is alarming at best. The PhenomHealth website claims, “The greatest part of Garcinia Lean Xtreme is it’s a dual action fat buster! It prevents fat from being made and suppresses your appetite.”[2] It gives no real insight on studies done as to why it prevents fat from being made, or how it can suppress your appetite.
Outside the company website, I found that there is a 60% level of HCA per 1,000 mg in each pill. And one 60-capsule bottle of Garcinia Lean Xtreme will costs between $69.00 (Amazon) and $85.00 (PhenomHealth) before shipping.
Ironically, studies have shown that this supplement is not actually as effective as many people might think. WebMD reports,
But actual weight loss results aren’t impressive. A review published in the Journal of Obesity found that people who took Garcinia Cambogia in studies lost about 2 pounds more than people who didn’t take it. The reviewers couldn’t say for sure that the weight loss was because of the supplement. It could have been from the lower-calorie diet and exercise programs the people in the studies typically followed. Better studies are needed to find out if HCA really helps people lose a lot of weight and keep it off. [6]

We already know there are holes in the research on the company website promoting this product. And at least one infomercial page uses a marketing ploy to make you think they are running out by urging the customer to purchase before they are “sold out.” Little to no valuable fact-based information is given to customers looking to purchase the supplement. Even the ingredient list on the bottle is vague, which leaves the customer guessing what is really in it. You are instructed to take 2 capsules per day, so 1 bottle should last you 30 days.
Sadly, many other customers said the product just plain didn’t do anything for them and they felt like it was a waste of money. One Amazon customer said, “Very disappointed in these pills. I wouldn’t buy these again for $60. Plus change. I only gave it a 1 star I didn’t even want to do that. Won’t buy them again.” [3]
Another said, “Don’t feel it really is doing as its claims.” [3]
It was the same story all around for purchasing customers—the average Amazon rating was 2.8 out of 5 stars over 18 reviews, and for some reason one person who said it did nothing for them still gave it five stars—which leads me to believe this supplement is not as widely effective as it makes itself out to be.

PhenomHealth’s Garcinia LeanXtreme is riding the coattails of a supplement that was once tied to weight loss. There have since been many studies done which prove the active ingredient HCA does not help one lose body fat, or make you feel more full once you take the supplement.
The one positive from the studies done on HCA is that there is evidence it has the ability to help quicken the metabolism over time. But again, it seems that rats had a better reaction than humans did to the HCA in their system. [4]
The money-back guarantee that they offer is hardly worth the hassle, because they barely give you any time to try it out before you have to box it up and potentially send it back. With most weight loss supplements you at least need 2 weeks to really give it a good shot before you know if it is working or not. Overall, the customer voices and the lack of actual research done on Garcinia Cambogia’s effectiveness in people is enough to make this a questionable supplement. To top it all off, there have been side effects linked to taking this supplement such as dry mouth, dizziness, upset stomach, and diarrhea. None of these are pleasant symptoms to have to endure, especially if you are seeking to become more healthy overall. [4]

Problematic. After digging into the research behind why this diet supplement was created, there is not enough evidence to support Lean Xtreme’s claims of effectiveness for weight loss in people. It was effective on rats throughout research, but fell short when actual people were tested.
Most people who bought the supplement were indeed let down, and did not feel like it did anything for their weight loss in the short or long run. The money-back guarantee is weak, and the lack of any research done on PhenomHealth’s main site is less than impressive. I would not put my faith in this diet supplement to do anything for weight loss, especially given how expensive it is.
