Kegenix Review

First of all, what exactly is Kegenix? It is a brand that supplies diet supplementation products, better known as ketosis products. They claim that these products will keep your body in a state of ketosis throughout the day. They also say that the products best work in conjunction with the ketogenic diet, which does not come as a surprise. This company was founded by Rob Rogers and Gary Millet with the idea that they could get ketones to reach the body in less than 60 minutes. The products they created are said to do just that, but how effective are they? [1] Kegenix Prime is the main Kegenix supplement, and it costs around $90.00 for a 30 day supply and $50.00 for a 15 day supply. It is currently sold out on the main website.

Kegenix Claims

Regarding their refund policy, they quote,

“If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return the unused portion of your Kegenix™ order within 14 days from your delivery date for a full refund of the purchase price, excluding shipping.” [2

“Not only will Kegenix™ PRIME put your body into a state of ketosis in under 60 minutes, it will also promote healthy brain function, better clarity, and reduce inflammation and brain fog. Get slim, healthy, and confident again with our unique keto drink mix supplement. Ideal for both men and women, Kegenix™ PRIME is a dynamic and powerful ketosis dietary supplement that will assist weight loss, promote abdominal fat burn, and support better digestion and sleep.” [3]

“The body relied on the tiny and incredibly powerful ketones to help regulate its energy supply by burning fat instead of carbs like we do today. Kegenix’s patented ketogenic formula now gives you the chance to revert you body back to its natural state of ketosis. Kegenix can help you look and feel better while stimulating keto weight loss over time due to its patent formulation and unique, phased delivery of ketones to your body.” [4]

The companies recommended dosage is one time per day, with 1 pouch going in 12-16 oz. of water. It is not recommended that type 1 diabetics take this supplement, and you should always clear any new supplement with your healthcare provider first. Another claim directly from their website is,

“Ketones have been studied by NASA and the US Military because of their special energy and cell protective properties. The first real product that can replace carbs and sugar without using insulin. Rapidly absorb exogenous ketones and electrolytes, balancing your body’s overall function. Naturally sustain ketosis via a unique blend of ketogenic amino acids and metabolites. Stimulate endogenous hepatic ketone production, via Kegenix’s MCT & RS4 Fiber components.” [4]

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind Kegenix

There is a lot of science backing the fact that there are ketones in the body, and that they serve to put your body back into its natural state of ketosis. There are no given studies on the main website backing their product, however. So how can the drink put your body into a state of ketosis in under 60 minutes anyway? That is the biggest question many of you will be asking, so I wanted to address it. It has been said to be the most powerful exogenous ketone supplement on the market today, but why? At first glance the keto diet is a nutritionists largest headache because there are a lot of fats involved, and little to no carbs.

By drinking their supplement you are naturally putting new ketones in the body. Here is how the ketogenic diet process is explained by the Scientific American Journal: First, this program emulates starvation mode in the body thus putting your body into the metabolic state of ketosis because the blood sugar is usually dependent on carbohydrates for energy, which are then broken down into glucose and stored in the liver the process is changed. If the liver is depleted of sugars and carbohydrates to provide energy with, it still provides energy to the brain just in the form of fat. Really, they are the natural ketones that come from the fatty acids in your diet that are converted, which is why this company has legs to stand on in the first place. These particular ketones are then rushed through the bloodstream, and used as fuel. [6]

There was an interesting study done involving the ever famous Dr. D’Agostino regarding how the body adapts to the environment it is in even in extreme situations.

“He was selected for his research conducted at the USF Hyperbaric Biomedical Research Laboratory (HBRL) on how extreme environments impact the human body. One of the countermeasures developed is a method to induce and sustain nutritional ketosis with ketone supplement formulations. Nutritional ketosis shifts the body’s metabolic state to burn fat rather than glucose as its primary fuel.” [7

In this particular study, they went on a deep space mission to a Mars like atmosphere underwater in the Atlantic Ocean located 6 miles off of the coast of Key Largo. Dr. D’Agostino was the only crew member in the state of ketosis, and the studies were done to better NASA’s research on health in space. The results?

“He was in a constant state of ketosis which is proven to preserve the genome, protecting DNA. This is beneficial to NASA as it can countermeasure neurological risks that come with space travel such as space radiation, lack of oxygen and stress of small spaces.”

So to recap the information above, the drink will automatically give your body the ketones it needs to burn fat rather than carbs, thus putting your body into that advanced state over time. While there are no studies to prove the 60 minute factor, the process is fully explained. NASA teamed up with Kegenix’s main face Dr. D’Agostino for more research and also proved a theory about the ketogenic state, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t be a bit skeptical of how quickly it is said to work. Being placed first and foremost in a ketogenic state by following the strict diet will help speed that time up. If you are not following the keto diet while taking the supplement, your body will still be using carbs for energy too, which will slow down your process.

Word On The Street About Kegenix

When looking into this diet supplement, it is clear that the founders of Kegenix wanted the user to pair taking their product with going through the ketogenic diet. What happens if you do not go through the diet and still take the supplement? Will it really still be effective? I took a look into a few reviews to see what real customers were saying about its overall effectiveness.

Brock Thomas (2017, 1 star),

“I've been on the Keto diet for 2 months now with a lot of success. My career requires a great deal of fitness and strength. Since beginning the keto diet I've noticed higher energy levels during the day and better sleep at night. In an effort to test this product, I knocked myself out of ketosis with my biweekly carb cheat meal. After consuming a packet, I tested my urine every 2 hours throughout the day with no elevation in ketone levels. I repeated this experiment for 2 days. I'm now back to using my diet alone for ketosis. In addition, each packet contains about 7g of carbs with is more than 1/3 of an average daily carb consumption during keto. I'm very disappointed in the amount of money spent on this product.” [8]

Robin (2017, 1 star),

“I've used this product twice, both times I was already in ketosis and expected my ketone level to go up. In the first test, my ketone levels dropped from 1.6 to 1.0 in an hour, then down to 0.7 an hour later. The second test I started at 2.1 and it dropped to 1.9 (3.5 hours later). I didn't eat anything else in that time frame. The taste was fine (orange). I believe this precision xtra is the most accurate way to measure ketones, and I am very disappointed with this product, especially at the high cost.” [9]

Nicole (2017, 4 star),

“I like everything about these pre-measured packets of Ketones, except for the taste and price. God this stuff tastes bad, but I just drank it as fast as possible. More BhB salts than most, so you are in Ketosis for most of the day.” [10

Overall, the reviews were not as great as I had imagined and there was more complaining about the flavor and price than anything else. Many people who were willing to fork over the money for the supplement were also following the ketogenic diet and did not notice a change in their levels, which was also eye opening. While the ketogenic diet has been proven to help many people overtime, this supplement has gotten less than impressive reviews when it is all said and done.

The Bottom Line: Is Kegenix Worth A Try?

Risky.

I say risky because of how expensive the company's supplements are and how bad they taste. On top of this simple factor, they have not been said to work exceptionally well according to their loyal customers. Ketones, ketosis, and the ketogenic diet are not all frauds, and there are many health benefits from following this style of diet, but sometimes supplementation like Kegenix is not necessary. It might just be another add on that the company thought of to try and make extra money, as the keto diet is popular amongst many. Whatever the motive, the claims they make on the site are not backed by any real studies regarding their personal formula, which made it had to validate their claims.
