NLA for Her: Shred Her Review
By CANDICE GREY ConsumersCompare.org Update: Oct 23, 2024 |
NLA for Her: Shred Her is marketed as a “Concentrated Thermogenic Fat Burner.” It comes in capsule form, 60 to a bottle, 2 capsules/day. It retails between $27-$36 and can be purchased on the company website or on Amazon.com.
NLA for Her is a nutrition and wellness company started in Los Angeles, California, in 2012. They do not have a Better Business Bureau profile as of this writing. [1] [2]
The only customer support option is e-mail, at: customerservice@nlaperformance.com.
The products are marketed directly at women, and most of their products are dusted in pink outline. The company was started because of the lack of products for women to choose from; many were too weak, and others were men’s products that were too strong. They offer a variety of products to choose from: stacks, whey bars and powder, energy chews, amino powders, probiotics, supplements, CLA, a detoxifier/cleanser, a pre-workout energy blend, and Shred Her, the concentrated thermogenic fat burner, all specially formulated for women of various fitness levels.
NLA for Her: Shred Her Claims
“SHRED HER is our all natural fat burner scientifically formulated and dosed for females designed to rapidly promote fat loss.”
“Elevates Energy…Increases Fat Loss…Supports Appetite Control” [3]
“Ultra concentrated thermogenic fat burner…helps elevate energy and mood” [4]
“Shred Her helps you achieve your fitness goals by turning up your body’s natural temperature, helping along with burning fat and keeping you lean. It’s all natural and pretty mellow, making it easy to take consistently and for long periods of time safely.”
“All NLA for Her supplements are created in GMP and NSF certified manufacturing facilities. We place a high priority on our quality control procedures to ensure you are getting the highest quality supplements. The NSF maintains laboratories in North America, South America.”
They do warn that pregnant and nursing women should not take this supplement, nor should people under 18 or over 60 years of age. It is not recommended that you go over the dosage amount, for your safety, nor should you take it if you’re sensitive to caffeine or have known medical conditions. [3]
Their money-back guarantee is one of the shortest I have ever seen—just seven days. What happens if you order the product, and are out of town when it arrives? Most companies, at a bare minimum, give their customers thirty days.
NLA for Her: Shred Her Ingredients
The Supplement Facts label isn’t shown on the NLA website, but it is on the Amazon.com product page.
- Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCl) 10 mg
- Pantothenic Acid 20 mg
- “Fat Incinerating Matrix” 1180 mg
Green Tea Extract (Leaf), Taurine, Caffeine Anhydrous (170 mg), Citrus Aurantium Extract (Bitter Orange) (Fruit), Green Coffee (Bean) Extract, Raspberry Ketones, Ursolic Acid [From Rosemary Extract (Leaf)], Guarana Extract (Seed)
- Inactive ingredients: Vegetable Cellulose (capsule), Microcrystalline Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide
The company says that their products are made in certified manufacturing facilities, and that they have done research on the formulas behind why their products work.
Those certifications are pretty decent, for as much as they mean. The GMP “acronym stands for Good Manufacturing Practices, and to be GMP certified means that the manufacturer has demonstrated a strong regulatory commitment and compliance to international GMP standards.” [5]
NSF stands for National Sanitation Foundation, and is a global third-party organization recognized by regulatory agencies at every level from local to international as a trusted public health and safety supervisory body. “NSF ensures product and ingredient safety, giving both industry and consumers peace of mind through GMP compliance, accredited certification programs, testing services and training capabilities.” [6]
Put simply, the manufacturing facilities don’t have anything shady going on at all, regardless of the effectiveness or lack thereof of the product itself.

For the record, anhydrous caffeine isn’t naturally occurring. Most natural sources of caffeine also contain a lot of water, but anhydrous (“no water”) is produced in a lab into a powder—and just as removing the water from grapes increases the sugar concentration in raisins, this process concentrates the caffeine. [7]
Let’s look at the science behind some of the other ingredients.
Green Tea, according to WebMD, has shown some likely effectiveness against high cholesterol and possible effectiveness against high and low blood pressure, osteoporosis, and preventing Parkinson’s disease. But the jury’s still out on any real evidence regarding weight loss or athletic performance. It does contain some caffeine. And there are side effects indicated.[8]
Taurine is possibly effective against congestive heart failure and hepatitis (liver disease), but there’s not enough evidence to tout it for exercise or mental performance, and its safety is still undetermined. [9]
Citrus aurantium is also known as Bitter Orange, and is common with many weight loss products. The research reviews are mixed in regard to its effectiveness in weight loss, and more research is needed.
But bitter orange is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken as a supplement for a medical purpose such as weight loss. Bitter orange, particularly when taken with stimulants such as caffeine or caffeine-containing herbs, increases the risk for high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, stroke, and other severe side effects.
There are reports that bitter orange can trigger headaches, including migraine and cluster headaches, in some people.
Bitter orange can cause sensitivity to the sun. Wear sunblock outside, especially if you are light-skinned. [10]
Ursolic acid is still very much in the preliminary research stages. Examine.com states only one human study has been done so far, and “found some biological activity.” That’s it. [11]

Thanks to Shred Her’s availability on Amazon.com, there are a variety of customer opinions. Of 277 reviews, the ratings lean positive 57-30 percent, with 13 percent in the middle. No terrible side effects were noted, but there were a lot of issues with how large the capsules are. And even most of the 5-star reviews really didn’t mention tremendous weight loss—though it was praised for its energy boost without jitters.
“Stephanie S.” said (2016),
(5-star) I love this product so far! I’ve been looking for a good fat burner, and this one does the job for me! Everyone is different and every body reacts to differently to different supplements. I’ve tried Shredz fat burner before and liked it as well, but it’s way too overpriced. NLA for her makes me feel super energized when working out, and I can definitely tell that my appetite is more suppressed throughout the day. I don’t get jittery with this product after working out either. Loving this NLA for her fat burner so far!! Can’t go wrong with the price tag because most diet supplements can get pretty pricy! [12]
“Angie” said (2016),
(3-star) I didn’t love these. The first few times I took them they worked but from that point forward I really didn’t notice any difference. Took a break from them for a few days and when I took them again they worked but only a couple times then back to nothing. I doubt I’ll buy them again. [13]
“Shannon Wright” said (2015),
(1-star) This is the second time I’ve purchased this product and I just don’t think they do anything. I don’t see a difference in my appetite or energy level. [14]
Every supplement affects every individual differently. Gender, age, sometimes race, pre-existing medical conditions, and individual body chemistry—as unique as a fingerprint—can affect how a supplement works on you. That’s why supplements always add that “individual results may vary” disclaimer, and it’s why reviews for a drug or supplement can be all over the spectrum. Only you and your doctor can figure out how it works for you, so always be forthcoming and transparent with your doctor about side effects you experience, as well as if the substance doesn’t seem to be doing anything for you.

back to menu ↑Is NLA for Her: Shred Her worth a try?
Insufficient Data to Praise or Pan. Meh. There is no reason to run for the hills when looking at this product, but it really depends on what kind of results you are looking for. Reviews from actual customers who gave it 3+ weeks were not significantly enthusiastic weight-losers, nor did many of them notice a measurable drop in appetite. If anything, it’s a moderate energy boost due to the caffeine in the capsules. The cost is average for a 30-day supply, but their money-back guarantee is weak.
i dont understand this company. i got the probiotics for women. it does not have dairy free on it or is it dairy based. the company has no phone number? thats a red flag. tried to email them, they never got back to me.long time went by. i tried it again. they said we dont know about the ingredients? what on earth. this company is not one i would ever buy from. people do your research. its some fad company.
