In fact, the claims of weight loss are nothing short of miraculous. According to the diet plan, if you follow the strict 43% protein, 22.5% fat, and 34.5% carbohydrate mix Dr. Tarnower claims you can lose 20 pound in just two weeks as your body will go into the state of ketosis and burn fat faster.* The diet is a strict one and it is emphasized that it must be followed precisely. For the first two weeks participants are only allowed 1,000 calories per day and this gets ramped up a bit after the initial two week phase. The focus os this diet is to eat high protein, low carbs, and reduced fat to help you attain your weight loss goals.
Do Dieters Lose Weight on the Scarsdale Diet?
Dieters tend to show their weight loss success mostly upfront with the Scarsdale Diet. This is likely because of the restriction of calories that the diet has in place. However, the claims of 20 pound in two weeks is debatable and if it is achievable there really isn’t any probable way that it could be safe weight loss or weight loss that could be sustained once any level of normalcy returns to the dieter’s eating habits.

The Scarsdale Diet would be a hard diet to follow in any case just because of the calorie restrictions. The Scarsdale Diet seems to put a lot of emphasis on eating in such a way that your body goes into the state of ketosis. So, concentrating on the foods the Scarsdale Diet calls for means there will be plenty of cravings to go along with each passing day. That might make this diet a hard one to follow if you have a week resolve. Even people who loved this diet program, and felt they like they got used to it overtime said it was still hard to follow. It may produce short term results for you, but they are not going to come easy that is for sure!
The Scarsdale Diet has been around for some time now, but the claims are still the same and still sound outlandish. The Scarsdale Diet claims to be the only diet that focuses the right mix of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats that together induce ketosis, but other high protein diets such as the Atkins Diet claim the same thing. The diet is also one that can cost you. The book alone is almost $30 and that has nothing to do with the food you will consume. Whenever you consume larger amounts of proteins you will be spending large amounts of money on it as that means a lot of beef, chicken, and so on. But mostly, the diet just doesn’t seem like a healthy one. If you could lose 20 pounds in only two weeks how safe can that actually be? While weight loss is the overall goal of anyone looking for the right diet, that goal should also include losing that weight in the proper manner to maintain overall health, which is a point the Scarsdale Diet seems to be missing overall.
