Ultra Body Garcinia Review

Ultra Body Garcinia is a diet pill that contains high levels of Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA), the ingredient that has made the Southeast Asian fruit Garcinia cambogia a “superfood.” It has been said to help suppress appetite, burn fat, spark energy, and Ultra Body Garcinia claims to be a quick fix to weight loss by simply taking the pill twice a day 30 minutes before your meals.

Ultra Body Garcinia is headquartered in San Diego, California, according to its Better Business Bureau profile— but when you click the “Rush My Trial!” button, you’re taken to a page for Pure Garcinia Cambogia, headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida. And here’s where the big neon warning signs start going off. Pure Cambogia has an F rating on its BBB profile and this “Additional Information:” [1] [2]

In March 2017, BBB contacted the business regarding its advertising of free trial periods of its products. Consumers that sign up for the free trial period are enrolled in a monthly subscription for additional products. BBB requested the business substantiate that the claims meet the standards outlined in BBB’s Code of Advertising (Section 18, Negative Option Plans, Continuity Plans and Automatic Shipments). The Code maintains that “Any advertisement for a product or service that includes an offer to sell or provide consumers with additional goods or services under a negative option feature must include a clear and conspicuous disclosure of all material terms of the negative option feature.” [3]

And there’s even more to that additional information, but the negative-option thing is such a big deal that it deserves the focus of this review.

The address for returns goes to Nutra Pure in Aurora, Colorado. Nutra Pure is the parent profile for a whole list of supplements who all have that negative-option marketing setup. Again, negative-option marketing is where you order a trial bottle, but you’re also automatically enrolled in a monthly auto-ship program at a much higher price (this group usually sets it around $90) unless you call and cancel within so many days. And that little tidbit is almost never disclosed clearly—more likely in smaller-font gray letters at the bottom of a big colorful page (if you don’t have to go digging into the Terms & Conditions) . Ultra Body Garcinia Ingredients

The company does not show a direct list of ingredients and there are no confirmed images of a Supplement Facts label, so we have only the sales page claims to go from regarding ingredients. The sales page claims 60% HCA, no fillers, binders, or artificial ingredients…and that’s pretty much it. There’s no indication if it contains only Garcinia cambogia, or if it’s a mix (like a lot of G.c. supplements) adding potassium or a potassium-calcium-chromium combination (which is where a lot of the side effects happen). And no indication of how many milligrams the dosage is. [5]

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind Ultra Body Garcinia

There have been multiple clinical trials, and studies done on the effectiveness or lack thereof when it comes to HCA and Garcinia Cambogia for weight loss. In the studies it has been confirmed that HCA works in the short term for creating appetite suppression, but it does not work long-term to keep your appetite controlled and pounds off. In one study done on the consumption of HCA and weight loss, there were side effects noted.

Adverse events reported in the RCTs included headache, skin rash, common cold, and gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. In most of the studies, there were no major differences in adverse events between the HCA and placebo groups. However, in one trial, GI adverse events were twice as frequent in the HCA group compared with the placebo group.”

The evidence from RCTs suggests that Garcinia extracts/HCA generate weight loss on the short term. However, the magnitude of this effect is small, is no longer statistically significant when only rigorous RCTs are considered, and its clinical relevance seems questionable. Future trials should be more rigorous, longer in duration, and better reported.” [6]

There are many studies done on HCA, all resulting in similar findings. HCA has been proven to help curb your appetite, which is why it is a popular ingredient in most diet products today. But it’s not a sprint; you will have to continue taking the supplement for the long haul if you want to see continual results, which may then cause side effects as noted above. Again, your best bet is to find a supplement containing only Garcinia cambogia.

Other studies, by Dr. Sidney J. Stohs—Pharmacy PhD from the University of Nebraska—and others, suggest that a moderate dosage of G. cambogia (HCA) by itself, barring other pre-existing health problems, is safe: the maximum daily safe dosage was determined as 2800 mg/day (one assumes 60% concentration, though the study doesn’t specify). Of course, research is ongoing. [7] [8] [9]

According to Shape magazine,

First, it suppresses your appetite by increasing serotonin levels. Low levels of serotonin are linked to depression and anxiety, which drive many people to eat emotionally. Thus, as your serotonin levels rise, your mood improves and lessens the drive to reach for food during emotional situations.

Second, HCA stops the fat-making process in your body by inhibiting a key enzyme called citrate lyase that your body needs to make fat from carbohydrates. It also may help lower LDL or “bad” cholesterol.” [10]

Word On The Street About Ultra Body Garcinia

There are no outside reviews on this product, due to the exclusivity of where you can purchase it, as it is not available anywhere but the sales page.

Nutra Pure, which seems to be where all roads lead in dealing with a whole string of negative-option marketed supplements, was mentioned on the Ripoff Report due to their billing process and free trial offer. [11]

Honestly, you can walk into Walgreens and find a fifty-day supply of 100% G. cambogia supplement (60% HCA, no other combinations) for less than $20, when it’s not on sale. Amazon, GNC, and any other of myriad online and real-life stores sell G. cambogia supplements. Ultra Body Garcinia is nothing more than a wallet-sucker.

The Bottom Line: Is Ultra Body Garcinia Worth a Try?

Definitely not. I’ll say this again: Ultra Body Garcinia is nothing more than a wallet-sucker. Avoid this brand, and any brand that pops up on your browser with this type of sales page—they all look nearly identical. But G. cambogia supplements themselves? Don’t throw that towel in just yet.
